Second Helpings is a South Carolina Angel Charity

As part of enforcing of the Solicitation of Charitable Funds Act, the South Carolina Secretary of State each year chooses 10 charities to showcase their stewardship of the donations they receive. Angel Charities must devote at least 80% of its total expenditures to directly fund charitable programs. Second Helpings was showcased in 2013 and we continue to meet this high standard every single year.  Ninety percent of our expenditures go directly to fund our hunger relief programs. Including the value of rescued food, 99 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to hunger relief!

We encourage you to review our most recent IRS 990 Annual Tax Exempt Form for more information.

For more information, please contact our Executive Director at execdirector@secondhelpingslc.org.

Donate Stocks, Bonds, or Other Securities

Giving stocks, bonds or other securities allows you to support Second Helpings while potentially realizing significant tax benefits. Stock and other security gifts are exempt from the long-term capital gains tax that would apply if you sold the shares and made a cash donation to Second Helpings. So donating stock directly to us is a great way to increase the impact of your dollars!
